-Relate the effects of thyroid hormone and the H-P-T axis on the presentation & laboratory diagnosis of hyper- and hypothyroid states
-Effectively and safely administer thyroid replacement drugs in clinical & subclinical hypothyroid disorders (Including post-partum thyroiditis)
-Effectively and safely administer anti-thyroid hormone drugs (ATD) and other intervention medications in clinical & subclinical hyperthyroid disorders(including subacute thyroiditis)

Christine Kessler is an award-winning nurse practitioner, national/international speaker, prolific author, and clinical consultant specializing in General Endocrinology, Obesity, and Metabolic Medicine. During her 48 years of nursing (40 years in advanced practice) she has held diverse roles in management, research, academia (as assistant professor undergraduate and graduate nursing), and especially clinical practice; the latter as a critical care clinical specialist, an acute care nurse practitioner (as hospitalist & intensivist) and adult endocrinology nurse practitioner.
After 15 years as the senior nurse practitioner at a large hospital Department of Endocrinology and Metabolic Medicine, Christine now focuses on providing diabetes and general endocrine services, as well as weight-loss management, in rural Virginia. Christine has received numerous top medical clinical practice and patient satisfaction awards, including the Coin of Excellence personally awarded by the Surgeon General for having the highest patient satisfaction rating of all health care providers in the Army WORLDWIDE. Christine is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
