Clinical Considerations for Commonly Prescribed Anti-Infectives

This session will explore clinically meaningful considerations for commonly used antibiotic classes in the outpatient setting. Antibiotic agents covered include penicillin's, cephalosporins, doxycycline, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, macrolides, and fluoroquinolones. Clinical pearls include trends and changes in bacterial resistance impacting use, clinically meaningful side effects and drug interactions, unique dosing considerations to optimize efficacy. The session will also highlight new evidence impacting the use of the corresponding antibiotic agents.

After taking part in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:
